Wakinyan rally 2011

Another one bites the dust. Wakinyan 2011 took place in a third different location!! From Birch Coppice, Dordon, to the Fox n Dogs, Warton and now onto Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove. A great site for a rally, flat ground, outside seating and cheap beer!!

we kicked off Friday night with Handsome Beasts who played for as late as the licence allowed

We had decent weather for the whole weekend, which always helps, and plenty of camping space for everyone to spread out. We had a few stallholders selling their bits n pieces, Billabong provided the food again and inside the club we kicked off Friday night with Handsome Beasts who played for as late as the licence allowed and when they were all done we followed on with Andy Kats Trad Rock Shack for tunes and the bar stayed open until 1.30am which always helps!!

Saturday morning arrived not that long after Saturday night had finished! Thanks to Snorz for the can clearance job and others that chipped in. A ride out was organised for late morning, I never did find out where they went, but they all got back safely and that’s what counts.

Silly, or should I say messy games ensued in the afternoon, thanks go to Paul for providing the means for several people to injure themselves, only slightly though, but the effort put in by the participants was commendable, if a little suicidal at times.

As Prez and Vice Prez myself and Steve took a wander around the field to check out the bikes and decide which one we liked the most and award the Best in Field Trophy to.

a karaoke session including the lead singer from Saturday nights band V8

Shitename provided the means for a music quiz which went down very well, more money raised for this years charity, there was a karaoke session including the lead singer from Saturday nights band V8, getting up and having a good vocal warm up!! We had the usual raffle and auction and managed to double our target donation from £250 up to £500 for the Sharon Fox Cancer charity.

A big thank you to all who attended the Wakinyan and stuck their hands in their pockets, the charity was very, very grateful.

When V8 had done their set and the indoor music had stopped, more sounds followed from the Rock Shack until everyone was more or less falling over and it was time to crawl off back to the tents and look forward to tidying the site on Sunday morning!!
